Q: How does the ice mold work?
Aluminum is a very effecienty heat conductor. When ice is coming into contact with the metal, heat is quickly transferred to the ice, which melts. Left is the ice that has not been in direct contact with the aluminium.
Q: How long time does the molding take?
The time is dependent on three factors: the temperature of the ice mold, the temperature of the ice, and how much ice is going to be melted away. Under normal circumstances - room temperature and with a block of ice from Dirigo Swedens ice maker - it will take about two minutes.
Q: Does the ice mold need to be heated?
Room temperature is enough. After usage, the ice mold will be cold and will not contain enough heat in order to melt the ice quickly. It should then be heated - the quickest way is to rinse it under some warm water, or by letting it rest at room temperature for a while. Normally, the ice mold can be used for two consecutive molds before it has become too cold.
Q: How big is the ice mold?
It is 20 cm high including handle, 12 cm in diameter and weighs slightly less than 5 kg excluding inserts. The insert adds about 0,5 kg.
Q: Is the ice mold approved for food production?
All parts in the ice mold - except the screws holding the insert in place, and the screw fixing the handle to the ice mold - are made out of food graded material.
Q: What colors are available?
At the moment the ice mold is available in red, black, gold and silver.
Q: Can I get my custom made insert?
Dirigo Sweden will be happy to help you with your custom shape that will be unique for you and your business. The price depends on the complexity of the shape desired.
Q: How does the clear ice maker work?
The clear ice maker ensures that the water freezes from the top down, which pushes all impurities (salts, minerals, disolved air) to the bottom. If the freezing process is stopped after 30 hours, the ice will have frozen into a clear cylindrical block. If the freezing process is left to continue until the whole water volume is frozen, the bottom part of the ice block will be cloudy and will have to be removed. This can be simply done by melting it away with some hot water.
Q: How big is the clear ice maker?
The ice maker has the shape of a rectangular block with length 42 cm, width 29 cm and height 16 cm. It will produce six cylindrical blocks with a diameter of 9 cm and a height of about 8 cm.
Q: How do I place an order?
Q: Can I choose what inserts I like, or do I have to buy all of them?
You can choose any combination of inserts you like and you can upgrade your ice mold with new inserts later of you feel the need for that.
